The SR-100 person-wearable self-rescuer is
predominantly used by thousands of underground coal miners to escape from
unbreathable atmospheres, but could be used in many emergency situations.
The SR-100 is a closed-circuit, self-contained oxygen
breathing apparatus designed only for escape from toxic or oxygen-deficient
atmospheres.
NIOSH/MSHA certified as a 1-hour SCSR when tested according
to a regulated workload schedule, but if work loads are noticeably reduced,
such as by resting, the unit may provide oxygen for 4-6 hours. On the
other hand, if work loads are noticeably increased, the duration will be
decreased. To maximize the duration, you should avoid overexertion as
much as possible.
The SR-100 can be donned in seconds, using proper donning
procedures. Every user should be familiar with the unit and how to
quickly make it operational.
