Passenger Vehicle Use Safety Policy

 

General

Company activities may require employees to use company owned or personal passenger vehicles in the performance of their employment.  Safety is Paramount in the operation of any vehicle for any use.  This policy sets forth rules and limits of use of both personal and company owned passenger vehicles.

 

Company owned vehicles

There are two classifications of company owned passenger vehicles

  1. Vehicles assigned to a specific manager or individual
  2. Company pool passenger vehicles

 

Rules and limitations

  1. All company vehicles are to operated in accordance with safe driving principles and in accordance with all traffic laws and posted speed limits. 
  2. Operation of any company vehicle will be done in a courteous manner on the road
  3. All repairs or notice of repairs shall be conducted through the fleet manager.
  4. All operation receipts (gas, oil, etc.) must be submitted with a mileage and use form.
  5. Accidents and stops by any law enforcement agency must be reported immediately
  6. Personal use of company vehicles must be authorized in writing by the area manager and will not be authorized for any pool vehicles
  7. Employees must be on the certified drivers list before they are granted use of any company vehicle
  8. It is strictly prohibited to use or carry alcohol or controlled substances in any company vehicle.
  9. No passengers in company vehicles are permitted except in conjunction with company related tasks.
  10.   Smoking and other tobacco use is prohibited in company vehicles
  11.   No flammable liquids in the passenger compartment.
  12.  All persons authorized to use company passenger vehicles must have a valid drivers license.

 

Prior to each use, an employee authorized to use a company passenger vehicle must:

  1. Visually check for proper inflation on all tires
  2. Check glove box for vehicle registration and insurance card
  3. Check all exterior lights for cracks or other visible damage
  4. Report any problems to the fleet manager
